Cancer, Cocktails and Comebacks

Happy Sunday, my lovelies 🍂 I thought I'd pop my head in real quick to give you an update on how I'm handling all the meds, radiation and the ever loving side effects. Radiation Inn - Come Glow with Us I snapped this pic Friday, right before I laid my body down on the rock-hard “luxury spa bed” (aka the radiation table). This one’s one of the newer rooms — shiny, sterile, and humming with that we’re about to fry you kind of energy. The real circus act isn’t the radiation itself — it’s getting my bladder fullness to match the previous day’s. Everything has to line up just right. Holy Mother of God, I’ve never chugged so much liquid in one sitting. Okay, fine — that’s a lie. A few of you have seen me with wine. 😂 I can’t moisturize around the treatment area because, apparently, adding lotion = extra burn. No thanks, Satan. So by the weekend, I’m slathered in so much lotion and oil, it’s a wonder I don’t turn into a human slip ‘n slide on my precious cotton percale sheets! Wh...

'Cuz shit's getting real!  I figured I’d kick things off with a little joy before we dive headfirst into treatment talk. There’s more than enough time for that thrill ride later! It goes from zero to raw and real in record time. Choosing Joy Like it's a Full Time Job  Self-Care I spoke about emotional hygiene in one of my previous posts and this plays right along side of that.  When I think of self-care, I think of joy. I once read that if something isn’t beautiful, useful, or doesn’t spark joy — ditch it. Honestly, I could say the same about relationships… but that’s a whole other blog and probably a cocktail or two  😉 Surround yourself with whatever lights you up inside.
